Let's see Laura's incredible experience with Redefine Health & Fitness.
Sometimes in life, it takes a major kick in the pants to get you moving to improve yourself. Three months ago, at the beginning of March 2020, I had my annual doctors’ appointment and all the standard bloodwork that goes with it. When my doctor called with the results of the bloodwork, she informed me I was what is considered pre-diabetic and we needed to talk. To say it was a scare is an understatement. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and several other health issues are common in my family generations deep. I knew that procrastinating on losing weight was no longer an option. My biggest fault that I needed to overcome when trying to lose weight was staying on track and accountable. 35 pounds I felt would be a good goal to start with but was very overwhelmed. I needed guidance on how to change eating habits and figure out how to exercise from home with the COVID-19 restrictions ramping up. Enter Angie Carriere who was introduced to me by a dear friend last summer. I had attended some summer Bootcamp sessions that were fantastic. I also knew she was certified as fitness, weight loss, and Keto coach. Shortly after receiving my test results, I contacted Angie. She was understanding, reassuring, supportive, and provided the encouragement much needed at that moment. The assessment was done and within a week I had a Keto meal plan, access to virtual fitness classes, and a Facebook group full of other individuals on similar journeys for moral support. It truly has been the best decision I have made in recent times. After ten weeks following the keto meal plan, intermittent fasting, and joining the virtual fitness sessions I am just over halfway to my goal. With 20 pounds lost I shared a picture with Angie and she did the side by side comparison with the before pic from October 2019. I was brought to tears when she sent it back. To see the difference side by side was shocking. When you see yourself in the mirror every day the changes are so gradual you do not notice how far you have come.
I still have a way to go to reach my goal. It has been slow and steady averaging two pounds a week and am hoping that means it will remain stable when I get there. All I can say is thank you, Angie, for getting me on track and keeping me there. Your support and guidance mean more then you will ever know. For those of you just beginning your journey, stay the course. There are ups and downs and times you feel you are not making any progress. The group is full of individuals that are going through or have gone through the same struggle. They have been amazing in providing suggestions and support. Trust in your plan, drink your water (a personal challenge), and get moving (another personal challenge). The Virtual classes Angie offers are worth every penny and the recordings allow for flexibility with a busy schedule. I feel amazing and look forward to reaching my goal. It has been a long time since this 47-year-old body has seen this weight on a scale.
